In all of Arngrim, there was none braver or more handsome than Alric Arngrim (? PC - 353 AC). He was the proud prince of Arngrim, huddled in the valleys of the Vingaard Mountains. Handsome and dedicated, Alric was the gleam of his parents’ eyes. King Conar Arngrim, his father, wanted him trained as a knight by methods passed down by his family.

Age of Dreams[]

In the years before the Cataclysm however, the 22-year-old Alric’s life was changed. The evil sorceress Asvoria attacked the kingdom of Arngrim and nothing could stop her. The defenses were crushed and the kingdom was cursed for daring to stand up to her. Alric found himself transformed into the undead, unable to feel or touch without draining the life of others. His once beautiful home was covered in a fog that killed the kingdom slowly. Despair overtook him and he retreated into Arngrim to find a cure for the twisted curse.

Age of Despair[]

After over 1,000 years of searching in the year 353 AC, the Scarlet Brethren, red wizards that served Alric’s father, found a cure for the curse placed by Asvoria. It was a soul called the Lionheart, a pure soul filled with bravery like no other. Alric had no sooner heard the news then reports came from the outskirts of the phantom kingdom of Arngrim. Kokar, a bandit leader was driven into the Vingaard after the War of the Lance and started to prey on the still living citizens near Arngrim. With determination in his heart, Alric took his troops and went to destroy the interlopers. Kokar and his band wiped out Alric’s men and Alric was weakened. In his desperation, Alric sucked the life out of one of Kokar’s men to rejuvenate him and give him form. Kokar went into a fit of rage and began to hunt the phantom prince.

Alric hid in an abandoned mansion and stumbled upon his greatest find, a young girl named Catriona. He knew that she could be the Lionheart so Alric took her to his parents. During her stay at the castle, Catriona began to grow on Alric and he could not sacrifice her. He tried to sacrifice one of her friends, the young girl named Nearra, but Catriona would not have it. She fought back against Alric and his parents. Alric watched as the phantom knights were about to destroy his love and he could be whole again with the curse broken. Alric Arngrim chose no such thing. He threw himself into battle to save Catriona from his parents’ phantom knights, beating them back long enough for the spell to break the curse to backfire.

With his future sacrificed, he only had one task left, his parents. A black vortex formed and the undead King Conar and his wife tried to drag Catriona into the Abyss with them. The undead prince Alric saved his love again by grabbing the king and queen and jumping into the black vortex. Alric and his parents disappeared and so did the kingdom of Arngrim into the mist, permanently.
