Amanthus (? - ?) was a male gold dragon.
Biography[]
Amanthus was known as the only gold dragon that remained impartial during the War of the Lance, when the Taladan dragons were first called to war. However, when he learned that some of the chromatic dragons had entered the war, the gold attempted to rally his fellow Othlorx and stir them into action.
Amanthus often appeared to visitors in human form, when they approached him in his lair of Cloud Mesa. In human form, he appeared as a frail old man who dressed in doublet and hose.
Unbeknownst to the dragon, however, was that dragon hunters were killing the goodly beasts and cultivating their ears for a reward. Plans were put in place to kill Amanthus himself, although a brave band of adventurers informed him of this plot in 348 AC. The gold petitioned that the adventurers learn who was orchestrating the attacks of the dragon hunters and why they wanted the dragons dead, in return for a considerable reward.
Not only did the adventurers ultimately learn who was behind the attacks, but they also put a stop to them. Amanthus sent a reward of money and magical items to each of the adventurers as a sign of his gratitude in ending the threat against the Othlorx.
