The Ancestor's Ceremony is a ceremony held by the merkitsa elves near the Turgan Oasis in The Tamire region of Northern Hosk. For two weeks around Midsummer's Day, all the clans of the merkitsa elves gather near the oasis, whilst the shamans of the clans perform funeral rites for all those who have passed over the course of the year.
The remains of any elf who has perished over the year are brought to the oasis and prepared for burial in the clan grounds. For those elves whose bodies cannot be recovered, carved effigies are created and brought to the Turgan Oasis instead. With each body is an offering to the clan quoyai, to appease the clan spirit. Each night over the entire two weeks, a different clan hosts a great feast for all, and gifts are given to members of other clans to promote harmony amongst all the merkitsa.
