Aurican (c. 8000 PC - 2693 PC) was a massive gold dragon that fought in the First and Second Dragon Wars.
Biography[]
First Dragon War[]
In the course of the war, Aurican brought magic back to the Krynn with the three elven brother-mages. He was also instrumental in imprisoning each clan of chromatic dragon within a Dragon Gem. After the war, Aurican breathed the essence of magic into the eggs of next generation of dragons, thus passing along magic to all future metallic dragons.
Second Dragon War[]
Aurican's death occurred during Second Dragon War. It was during this time that he was able to kill his millennium-long foe, Crematia, when he drove Crematia out of the sky above Silvanesti and caused her to crash into the forest below. Aurican died defending The Grotto and allowing the next generation of metal dragons, including his son Auricus, to escape the vengeance of the red dragon Deathfyre who sought to avenge the death of his mother, Crematia. Aurican killed many chromatic dragons before he was felled in turn. However, his sacrifice was not in vain, as his death bought the wyrmlings time to escape; and in time, his death was avenged.
