The Blue Dragonarmy was the most enduring army of Takhisis. During the War of the Lance, it was considered second in power to the Red Dragonarmy. Beyond the War of the Lance, it was the only one of the five Dragonarmies that was still a major power to be reckoned with. Throughout the war, the Blue Dragonarmy led many of the major offensives alongside the Red Dragonarmy. The army was feared by its enemies and quickly became known for the ruthless efficiency with which it won its victories on the field of battle. The army was founded by Ariakas and control was handed over to a singular Dragon Highlord. A host of Dragon Highmasters, who in turn had their own minor aides and spies, served the Highlord. The Blue Wing was made up of a small host of blue dragons, who were all powerful and the most efficient and trustworthy of any of the dragons in the Dragonarmies. All the dragons honored both the blue dragon Skie and Highlord Kitiara Uth Matar, viewing them as one individual. The troops of the Blue Dragonarmy were comprised of human mercenaries, draconians, kobolds, ogres, and also a small number of goblins were kept in reserve. The Blue Dragonarmy also were the only army to make use of undead, which were under the leadership of the death knight Lord Loren Soth, who made a pact with Highlord Kitiara during the war.

The Blue Dragonarmy was created by Ariakas and first raised shortly after the Red Dragonarmy itself was formed in 332 AC. The initial troops of the army were trained and grew in number, forcing Ariakas to hand over leadership to a Dragon Highlord, as he went to oversee and guide all five armies. It is unknown who the first true Highlord of the Blue Dragonarmy was in this turbulent creation period, however it was commonly believed that Merinsaard served in this post at first. Whoever the first initial Highlord was, it is clear that by the time the offensives were about to begin in 348 AC, the warrior-woman Kartilann of Khur was firmly entrenched as the Dragon Highlord, and aided by a very capable Dragon Highmaster, known as Kitiara uth Matar.

348 AC[]

In the summer of 348 AC, Ariakas ordered the Blue Dragonarmy to fly towards the New Sea region, to establish a base for the Dragonarmies and secure the area. Highlord Kartilann led the Blue Wing, from atop her blue dragon Skie, in an assault against the local Wemitowuk tribe of Schallsea. As the Blue Wing begun to attack the Schallsea natives, the Wemitowuk called on elemental powers to defend them. The Dragonarmy forces were initially driven back and a Wemitowuk arrow managed to strike down Highlord Kartilann from atop Skie, and send the Highlord plummeting to her death. The death of Highmaster Kitiara's dragon Zephyr also sent Kartilann's subordinate to her doom, until Skie rescued her. Skie and Kitiara assumed command of the shocked Blue Dragonarmy and led their forces in an effective rout of Schallsea. Ariakas promoted Kitiara to the position of Dragon Highlord of the Blue Dragonarmy, and Skie became her close friend and permanent mount.

349 AC[]

With the somewhat hollow victory at Schallsea the year earlier, the Blue Wing were then ordered to assist the Red Dragonarmy in the Silvanesti Campaign. Kitiara sent her lieutenant Highmaster Topus to assist Highlord Phair Caron of the Red Dragonarmy in the conflict. However due to being sidelined for most of the campaign, the Blue Wing mostly withdrew from the fight altogether. The remaining Blue Wing forces that served in the campaign were greatly reduced after Lorac's Nightmare was inflicted on the Dragonarmies in Silvanesti. The surviving troops returned to the bulk of the Blue Dragonarmy, which prepared to rest, train and regain it's strength before another concerted push by the Dragonarmies in 351 AC.

350 AC[]

Suffering from a loss of troops after the Silvanesti Campaign, the Blue Dragonarmy recruited thousands more troops, including vast numbers of Goblins, Hobgoblins, Ogres, Human Mercenaries and Kobolds. Further supply lines were established and training of the new troops ran for the entire year, as the officers and commanders discussed the assault westward into Solamnia.

351 AC[]

In the spring of 351 AC, the Blue Wing joined the Red Wing in it's westward flight towards Throt and Lemish, both of whom had already capitulated to the Blue Dragonarmy earlier. The Blue Wing turned northwards and traveled through the Dargaard Mountains. At this juncture, Highlord Kitiara stopped at Dargaard Keep in the Nightlund region, where she met with the death knight, Lord Soth. The death knight became infatuated with Kitiara, and agreed that he and his undead legion would serve the Blue Dragonarmy, in exchange for her soul when she died. Kitiara returned to her army, with Soth and his undead legion in tow. The Blue Wing led a vicious assault on the city of Kalaman, which after a bloody battle fell to the Blue Dragonarmy; the Solamnic region of Hinterlund was also fully brought under the Blue Dragonarmy's control. The army fought the Solamnics back to the High Clerist's Tower, where fighting continued as the Solamnics lost more and more ground. During the last months of 351 AC they camped in Solamnia near Vingaard Keep awaiting the spring thaw to advance toward Palanthas. During this time a Wing of the army was sent to Thorbardin to help search for the Assassins of Lord Verminaard. Most were posted along the main trade routes.

352 AC[]

During the initial winter months of 352 AC, the Blue Wing found their recruits and supplies shortened, both of which were much needed in their vicious assault on Solamnia. It wasn't until the spring of 352 AC that they were again strengthened enough to lay siege to the High Clerist's Tower. Believing that they could easily defeat the small cadre of Solamnic Knights at the tower, the blue dragons laid siege to the High Clerist's Tower and soon quickly fell victim to the magical power of a dragon orb, that was discovered by the Qualinesti princess Laurana Kanan and the kender hero Tasslehoff Burrfoot. Even with defeat at hand, Highlord Kitiara continued the attack, launching herself and Skie at a lone Knight of Solamnia on the roof of the tower. Kitiara struck him down, only to learn it was her former comrade and friend Sturm Brightblade. She then signaled the retreat of her decimated forces from the fight, returning to Dragonarmy-controlled parts of Solamnia.

The death of Sturm Brightblade inspired the Solamnic forces, which soon became banded with other nations and were known as the Whitestone forces. Under the leadership of Laurana, who became known as the Golden General, the Whitestone forces struck back at the Blue Dragonarmy. Kitiara's forces were driven from Kalaman and pushed back on several fronts by the Whitestone forces, until the Highlord engineered a plot with her Highmaster Bakaris, to capture the elven princess. Laurana was captured as Kitiara planned, and taken back to the dark city of Neraka, which halted the advance of the Whitestone forces for a short period of time, before they began their assault once more.

By the end of spring, Ariakas summoned all the Dragonarmies back to Neraka, to witness the return of Takhisis onto the mortal plane. Kitiara led her forces back to the dark city, where she prepared to witness the return of the Dark Queen, and also plotted the downfall of Ariakas, hoping to take his place as the ruler of the Dragonarmies. However, before Takhisis could make herself manifest, the Whitestone forces begun their assault on Neraka. The adventurer Tanis Half-Elven killed Ariakas during the dark ceremony to bring back Takhisis, and the Whitestone forces defeated the Dragonarmies. Highlord Kitiara led her army out of Neraka, and with the aid of Lord Soth and his undead legion, the army escaped relatively unscathed.

353-357 AC[]

Whilst the other Dragonarmies struggled to maintain lands and even survive against the Whitestone forces, the Blue Dragonarmy flourished. They returned to Sanction, and controlled significant tracts of land along the west of the New Sea. By 357 AC, Kitiara had signed an alliance with the remnant Green Dragonarmy, allowing Highlord Hullek Skullsmasher and his army to aid hers in an upcoming war. Later in the year, Kitiara led her assault on Palanthas, in what would later become known as the Blue Lady's War. Lord Soth and his undead legion rain terror on the power of Palanthas, and the Knights of Solamnia struggled to maintain their defenses against the vicious attack. As her troops fought against the Solamnic forces in the streets of Palanthas, Kitiara managed to breach the Shoikan Grove and the Tower of Palanthas, where she planned to stop her brother Raistlin Majere in his fight against Takhisis. Raistlin's loyal apprentice Dalamar Argent knew that Kitiara would undermine his master and instead planned to kill her, as Dalamar struck down Kit, so did the Highlord cut down Dalamar. The pair collapsed from their wounds, with Kit dying from Dalamar's magic and poisoned dagger. Highlord Kitiara was then claimed by Soth, as her dragon Skie mourned her loss, departing Solamnia altogether. The surviving troops of the Blue Dragonarmy scattered to the winds, and the last of the Dragonarmies was no more.
