Dragonlance Wiki

The Bronze Stylus of Eons was an artifact dedicated to Gilean. It was used for writing on wax-covered tablets. It had a bronze tip, and an end cap, which is flat and used for scraping over what one has written. Has a handle made of ivory that has slowly turned yellow with age, with some hair-fine cracks in it. It used to have a matching Tablet, and has travelled all over Ansalon and maybe Krynn. It is partnered with the Bronze Tablet of Eons.

Anything written with the Stylus cannot be erased except by the flattened end cap. The marks are a silvery grey in color, cannot be washed out or damaged. You can only write the truth with the Stylus, but this depends on the perspective of the writer. If a person tries to write untruths, the Stylus vanishes and ends up in someone else's possession. It can write on any flat surface, even star metal, leaving behind small grooves. It cannot be damaged. And when the word "record" is spoken in any language, the Stylus will copy a book word for word in the language "record" is spoken.

History[]

The Stylus and its Tablet first appeared in the hands of Sir Ogennes Palarem in 1773 PC, one year after the founding of the High Clerist's Tower. Sir Ogennes and his squire Bran Gevornan discovered an abandoned monastery in the Vingaard Mountains, and were only able to dare recover the Stylus and its Tablet. Bran was able to figure out sever of the powers, and over the years it passed from one Palarem Family or a Gevornan Family knight to another.

In 7 PC, the Stylus and Tablet were taken by the church of Istar, from Auglar Gevornan while the knight was in Istar attempting to rescue his daughter. In the process, Auglar was killed and his daughter and squire were able to flee back to Solamnia. There they told their family acquaintance Alfonsar Duskmere, a mage, of the theft by the church. It took him a great amount of work to recover the Stylus, but was not able to get the Tablet back, which was then lost in the Cataclysm.

Alfonsar made his way to Palanthas sometime after the Catacyslm, and gifted the Stylus to the Aesthetics there. There it would remain one Aesthetic or another using it until it eventually vanished and medallion to Gilean was in its place.
