The Burning Lands is a monstrous salt flat that spans over forty square miles in the southern part of the realm of Khur, in the lands of the Mikku tribe. The area is practically impassable by foot, although there are numerous small springs on the fringes of the area, where the saltwater breaches the surface. Wildlife is located within the Burning Lands, much of it centered around the springs.
Directly after the Cataclysm, the Burning Lands was once dominated by a broad lake, however over time the waters drained into the sands and it became the hostile desert it is known as today. During the day, the Burnings Lands are oppressive and unbearable to dwell in for any length of time, whilst at night the region is cold and still.
There are rumors that a piece of the fiery mountain that was thrown down onto Ansalon during the Cataclysm still remains at the heart of the Burning Lands, and still burns to this very day and is the cause of the extreme heat. Another persistent rumor is that there are underground ruins from the Age of Might lying undiscovered beneath the Burning Lands.
