In the Age of Might, Canus and the Dark Queen hunted the Dark when the Dark slipped from her control, or no longer suited her needs. And though the Dark Queen hunted to further her own ends, she at the same time helped rid the world of dangerous forces. It was while performing this duty Takhisis found Canus, and the Bond was forged between them.
Canus also had twin green stars in Krynn's sky that stands for the bond between man and wolf.
