The Gk-lok-lok are a strange race of extraplanar creatures that dwell in the Ethereal Plane. Most gk-lok-lok spend their lives in sleep, dreaming and experiencing the lives of dead warriors. The average gk-lok-lok stands at four feet tall, and their bodies are a series of thin sparkling tubes that look like steel. Their torso is a singular tube, with two long curled tubes for arms, and two hooked tubes for legs and feet. Two thin stalks run from the torso, which end in bulging eyeballs that have large black pupils and violet irises. A fiery red glow surrounds each eyeball.

The gk-lok-lok communicate through twisting their arms into complex patterns, with each pattern depicting a word or phrase. The gk-lok-lok are also able to speak to spirits and any type of undead freely. Whilst they cannot freely communicate with the living on an oral level, they do understand almost any spoken language. The curious race needs little to survive, absorbing all they need straight from the atmosphere around them. They have no known enemies, and are a peaceful race.

Society[]

Gk-lok-lok always dwell in a tribe numbering from one thousand to six thousand members. The entire tribe are dormant except for the “stem” and the “active”. The stem member of the tribe plants itself into the ground and transforms itself into a massive tree of green crystal, from which all the dormant members hang. An aura of red flames surrounds the tree, which damages anyone that comes into contact with the tree, that isn’t a gk-lok-lok.

The active member is responsible for ensuring that there are a supply of experiences and dreams for the other tribe members to enjoy. The active gk-lok-lok can only get spirits to volunteer their tales to the tribe, but a single spirit can provide “nourishment” for a century or more. When a spirit volunteers to join the tribe, they are allowed to enter the branches of the stem tree, and are kept safe from harm. If an active member is ever killed, then one of the dormant members awakens to replace them. If the stem or any of the dormant members are ever attacked, then the entire tribe awakens to overcome any opponent.

All gk-lok-lok live for precisely 100,000 years. At the end of this lifespan, the entire tribe, including the active member, crumbles to dust. The stem splits open and shoots out multiple spore balls into the air. The spore balls drift throughout the Ethereal Plane for around a century, before each ball releases between one thousand to six thousand new spores, which form a new tribe of gk-lok-lok. When a new tribe is formed, one automatically becomes the stem member, creating the tree which allows the rest to settle. And the active member is automatically selected on formation of the tree.
