Godsblood is the name given to black opals by the Lucanesti Elf. They were created anywhere from 100,000-200,000 years prior to the All Saints War at what eventually become the great city of Istar. Dormant volcanoes were there that erupted, completely covering up a forest. This forest over the years, would then have the black opals form inside the dead and buried trees. Eventually they were found, and man highly desired them. So much so that the Kingpriest of Istar would use slave labor in the Lucanesti to mine them from the ground. After the Cataclysm, the veins were pushed deep under the Blood Sea of Istar.
