Haant is a village in the nation of Nordmaar, which is located southwards of Pentar and northwest of Willik. The village was once inhabited by the Cuichtalic tribe and was a fairly successful coastal fishing village. However during the Chaos War, shadow wights, daemon warriors and other minions of Chaos swept through the town, wiping out all the residents and leaving Haant as little more than a ghost town.

The town stood empty for nigh on forty years, except for the occasional bandit or monster that briefly took up refuge there. In 422 AC, Haant became the new headquarters for the Essekar mercenary company. The town has a low three foot high stone wall that surrounds it, much of which is broken down to rubble is places. Four stone buildings stand within the centre of the town, being a billet, mess hall, storeroom and stables. Haant was also the home of a behir, which had a working relationship with the ogres of the Essekar company, who fed it in return for its protection.

A few short months after the Essekars arrived in Haant, a party of adventurers trailing the elflord Gilthanas arrived in the village, and slew the ogre mercenaries and the behir, leaving Haant a lifeless ruin once more.
