Haltigoth is a large city in the Qwermish province in the region of Estwilde and is considered the regional capital of the area. Poised on a bay that leads into the New Sea, the city is positioned in a key trade location for the area. The city itself is filled with dirty streets, buildings falling into disrepair and empty towers. A series of bad rulers have driven Haltigoth into the gutter, and the current ruling class only looks out for itself and not the commoners of the city.
During the War of the Lance, the city guards of Haltigoth were forced into the service of the Dragonarmies. Due to their cooperation, the city was left untouched by the fierce armies of Takhisis and became a recruiting center for the dark forces.

Haltigoth has also been referred to as Haligoth many times. It is unclear which is the correct name, as scholars and inhabitants of the area frequently use both names, although Haltigoth seems to be used slightly more.
