The Inner Planes are a series of elemental and primal realms that coexist with both the Outer Planes and the Material Plane itself. None of the Inner Planes are truly their own separate locales, but are rather emanations from the Outer Planes that house a specific element or energy in key areas. The Inner Planes are considered the raw building blocks of the world of Krynn, and each plane is exceedingly dangerous for any mortal traveller to enter. However a traveller entering one of the Inner Planes has not entered a separate plane, but rather a pocket of The Gray that is dominated by that key element or energy type. The Inner Planes are practically never traversed by mortals, and are primarily home to outsiders, servants of the gods, elementals, and the occasional exceedingly powerful mage.
The Dome of Creation is the source of energy for the Positive Energy Plane, whilst The Abyss is the source for the Negative Energy Plane. The four elemental planes emanate from The Hidden Vale.
