The Iron Dragon, and later the Iron Dragon II, was a mining machine created by Gilbenstock with Gilbenstock Mines and Minerals Survey. This was the core of his life and considered his Life Quest. The Iron Dragon was as long as three wagon teams and one third as wide. It had six towering wheels, a stupendous amount of weight, a main body in the shape of a great iron cylinder that was a boiler, and from that a maze of pipes and valves went about. Next it had a pair of iron-covered cabins that sat high on its back on each side, the bow of the cylinder was a massive block of gears and drive shafts from which projected a great set of three tapering, steel-gray rock drills with two below and one above. Each of the drills was as thick as a dragon's neck.
In the Late Spring of 368 AC, Gilbenstock fired it up to hit a mine east of Palanthas for some people he had been hired. The Iron Dragon tore its way to it, and started drilling perfectly into the mine. Come to find out the people who hired him had been using Gilbenstock and the Iron dragon to free a dragon named Bloodglitter. The Iron Dragon was then used to build up steam pressure and blow up the mine shaft, killing the dragon and remaining Sivak Draconian. Gilbenstock was then set to work on the Iron Dragon II.
