Kethril Torkay (? - ? AC) married Ellse Torkay and together they had three girls, one of whom was Lucy Torkay. Kethril is known as a cheat, con man, gambler, womanizer, and a fake. He abandoned his family by 411 AC, when he had tired of settled life. After leaving his wife, he had relationships with Gwendolin, Mauvrin, Janira, and a sirine. With the sirine, he had another daughter who was born in 412 AC.

Kethril was known to be white skinned, just over six feet tall, light brown hair with some gray in it, a creased face, close-cropped beard, full mouth with even, white teeth, wrinkles at the corners of his eyes, weighs about 200 pounds, and a stunted forefinger on his left hand that he was born with. Kethril wore a glove to hide it.

Pre-War of Souls[]

Kethril led a party, including Bernic, to steal Flotsam's treasure from their bank. As they were leaving with the treasure, and explosion happened, killing all but Kethril. He was able to escape with the treasure to Dead Pirate's Cove. This is where he was captured by Ulin Majere, while playing a game of cards at the Golden Carp.

As Kethril was returning as Ulin's prisoner in Notwen's ship, they were attacked and captured by ghagglers. The ghagglers were going to have them fight a Sea Lion. Before they were killed by it, sea elves rescued them and set them on their way back to Flotsam.

Upon arrival, Kethril told his story of how he stole the taxes and that he had spent it all. The Flotsam City Council wanted to hang him right away, but he explained he had a way of getting it back for them in stealing from one of Fyremantle's hordes. They agree to go along with it, and Kethril, Ulin, and Notwen set off to get it.

They succeed in capturing the treasure and returned to Flotsam. When Fyremantle attacked the city, they were able to show him that they knew what he was doing and would tell Malys if he didn't stop asking for these exorbitant taxes. Fyremantle agrees, and leaves.

Kethril tells Lucy he is very proud of her, and that he had to leave. As he was leaving, he cleaned out the Jeffies cash box.
