Starshimmer Lake is a long broad lake located in the center of the Marak Valleys of the Steamwall Mountains. The shore of the lake is covered in pebbles, and it is an idyllic setting.
The lake is the site that The Teacher chose where he transformed large numbers of Marakai into Shadow-Fiends, to serve as the mindless servants of the Faceless Brethren. It is also where the Teacher ultimately met his end at the hands of Barreth Forlo and his companions.
