Maritta the Seamstress (? - ? AC) was a middle-aged, Human woman that was caged in Pax Tharkas by Verminaard. She was plain looking, stout, not afraid of heights, but a woman of courage and of sense. She was the sort of nominal leader of the woman trapped there and was the first to calm the women when the Heroes of the Lance burst in on them to rescue the women. She listened to the Heroes' plan and agreed with it, encouraging the other women to help in creating disguises for some of the men of the group.
She also helped in leading them to where the children were. She would later come to admire Elistan, and despise Hederick and his followers. She is one of the most vocal Refugees of Pax Tharkas who supports Elistan’s faction, and agrees with Riverwind’s decision to leave the valley.
She is known to sing marching songs while working. It is unknown what became of Maritta following the War of the Lance.
