Michael ( 20 PC - ? AC) was a former cleric of Mishakal just prior to the Cataclysm. Michael wasn't of the highest ranks of the order, but of the lowest ranks. During the time following the Cataclysm, he became very good at fighting with a staff.
Early Life[]
Michael was born in the lands around the great city of Xak Tsaroth. His mother was of the Plainsmen tribes living around the city and his father was a shopkeeper in the city. The two met and fell in love. Michael would enjoy the times with his mother's brother, who was a Plainsmen, would come into the city and tell him tales about all the gods. Michael eventually heard the call of Mishakal and turned to the clergy as his way of life. With his vows he became a vegetarian.
Night of Doom[]
Michael was working for Nikol Whitsund and Nicholas Whitsund just prior to the Cataclysm at Castle Whitsund. The twins were so poor at the time that Michael would sneak the money they paid him back into their purse when he thought they were not looking, but of course they saw and kept silent. He would stay on not only for loyalty, but for his love of Nikol, hoping that some day she would notice him.
On the Night of Doom Mishakal came to Michael to take him away from the cares of Krynn and join her on the next plane. But for his love of both Nikol and her brother, Michael refused to go with her and the other clerics. Nikol came and got him to try and heal her brother who had been injured by goblins who had attacked their castle. They arrived too late and Nicholas had been carried off by the goblins. Michael stood by Nikol's side as she tried to rally the troops, but eventually had to release them. Together Nikol and Michael escaped into the night to follow Nicholas' trail.
While tracking down Nikol's brother, Michael had to finally admit to her that he wouldn't be able to heal her brother. He had lost the goddess' favor when he refused to go with her on the Night of Doom. Eventually the two of them meet up with Raistlin Majere and together they journey on to the Lost Citadel. When they arrived at the Lost Citadel, Michael saw the place as wondrous with all the clerics of good traveling across the Bridge of Stars on their way to join the gods. Again, Michael had the chance to join them but refused for his love of Nikol.
Instead Michael agrees to help stop Akar from killing Nicholas with his dagger. When Akar drops the dagger from the blast of lighting from Raistlin, Michael picks up the dagger and pricks Nicholas' forehead with the dagger. This released the Wish Spell from Nicholas and he was able to die not on the bridge, preventing all the dark clerics from entering Krynn.
In anger, Akar took Michael hostage and tried to convince Nikol to kill his brother's murderer. Nikol instead killed Akar freeing Michael. Mishakal came again to Michael to offer him a chance to leave, and again for the love of Nikol, he refused. Together they journeyed back to Castle Whitsund, and Michael sadly watched his love sink into depression and madness. He worked diligently to get the castle back into shape now that the goblins had left it. With this he was also taking care of Nikol, feeding her what he was able to gather.
Cataclysm[]
The warnings came to the Kingpriest of Istar and were ignored, and with it came the Cataclysm. Nikol and Michael went into the Temple of Paladine in the castle since it was the safest place in the castle. Nikol realized how much she really did love Michael, so together the exchanged their vows and Paladine blessed their union.
When the Cataclysm was over, Nikol and Michael decided to journey to Xak Tsaroth. While traveling, Michael had to eat meat and foreswear some of his vows in order to live, hoping that Mishakal wouldn't mind. Their first stop was in Caergoth, there they had to earn some money. Nikol helped some Ergothians fight off goblins and Michael showed them edible plants to eat. Once they had enough money they traveled by boat over to Abanasinia, where they got lost in their travels and wandered into Qualinesti. Hidden elves shot arrows at them and drove them out of the forest. They were attacked one by bandits, whom they beat off, before arriving at the ruins of Xak Tsaroth. They met an old lady, who was really Mishakal, and when they stated they were looking for the Disks of Mishakal, she suggested going to Palanthas.
When Michael and Nikol arrived in Palanthas, they realized how bad things had gotten. They tried to go for help from the Knights of Solamnia at the High Clerist's Tower, but were almost arrested if it weren't for Lord Loren Soth arrived to scare off the knights. They made their way back into the city to try and stop a mob from burning down the Library of Palanthas. They broke into the Library and they were able to stop the mob with Lord Soth's help. Michael learns from Astinus that his mother had returned to the plains with her people. Michael and Nikol decided to go there to live out their lives. Eventually he had a child who had a child who had a child who had a child that was named Wanderer.
