Mohrlex (? - ? AC), is one of the native Krynnish Dragons who rose through the Dragon Purge to become of the minor Dragonlords. A powerful Black Dragon who measures over one hundred and fifty feet in length; Mohrlex possesses charcoal-black scales and ivory horns on his head. Yellow eyes watch over his realm, and the dragon has something of a relaxed demeanor, and even a sense of humor. Whilst still possessing something of the cruel nature that any chromatic dragon has, Mohrlex is usually more inclined to engage in conversation, rather than attack someone outright.
Age of Mortals[]
In 399 AC, Mohrlex made his way to the Great Moors of Nordmaar, which he soon claimed dominance over. The denizens of the swamp, Draconians, Bakali, Human tribesfolk and wild Gnomes, all offered their fealty to the dragon, who they chose as their new leader. Over the course of the next few years, Mohrlex remained slightly baffled by the fact that the residents had somehow elected him king of the Great Moors, even though he tended to eat those who didn't amuse him.
Recognizing Mohrlex as a useful ally, the Dragon Overlord Onysablet offered an alliance with him several times through her agent in Mohrlex's court the Aurak Draconian Barathrutus. The smaller black dragon realized that any such alliance would simply result in him becoming a pawn of the overlord, thus he refused. However his refusal earned him the wrath of Onysablet. In an attempt to force Mohrlex to turn to Onysablet for help and to ally with her, Barathrutus secretly infected the dragon and his bakali with the bakalian plague, a disease that infects the body and mind, turning the victim into a frenzied state and hardening the skin, scales, muscles and organs over time.
By 422 AC, Mohrlex's body was thoroughly ravaged, and much of his scales had already turned into calcified patches, with the left side of his face paralyzed. The dragon was weakened and desperate to find a cure to the disease. Polymorphed into the form of a human male, the dragon met with a party of heroes in Mohrlexctlan (his personal court), to discuss their intentions towards the dragon. After speaking with the adventurers for some time, Mohrlex realized that Barathrutus was the one who had betrayed him. The dragonlord summoned Barathrutus to his court and confronted him about his duplicity. However the aurak used a magical piece of coal from Onysablet, which forced Mohrlex to retreat in weakness. The adventurers then faced off against the draconian and slew him. On restoring the Fountain of Renewal, the adventurers again faced the black dragon Mohrlex who lay dying on the steps of his theatre. The adventurers offered Mohrlex a chance at salvation and the dragon eagerly complied. Plunging into the waters of the Fountain of Renewal, the bakalian plague was washed away from the dragon, and he emerged with fresh new black-blue scales and a healed mind as well.
What lies in future for Mohrlex is uncertain, however he has chosen to attempt to lead the folk of the Great Moors of Nordmaar wisely in future, and become a true leader for his people, rather than just another tyrannical Dragonlord.
