Otik's last name has been misspelled many times over the years. Some other spellings of it has been Otik Sandahl and Otik Sandeth, both of which are incorrect spellings. There are also some reports that state that Otik wasn't a very traveled man, but in all reality he was. There are many instances where he talks about his closing the inn and traveling Ansalon.

Otik found that it was best to create his famous ale while up in the tree. Once he tried making it down below, but when he rolled it up the stairs the yeast took another month before it would settle down and he was laid up in pain for three days. Otik was also known to try and stay away from anything to do with magic, and liked to dance when he was younger.

Arrival in Solace

In Otik's younger days, he tried his hand at being an adventurer, but found a life of violence was not to his liking. Through working several jobs, he saved up enough money and decided to run his own inn, as he had found several inns on the road whilst he was adventurer, and enjoyed that lifestyle. Settling down in Solace in 319 AC, he purchased an old rundown inn from a female hill dwarf for a 'kender half-penny', which he renamed to the Inn of the Last Home.

Otik took great pleasure in creating the best food and drink possible for his customers, and was known to give free food and drink to those in need. The Inn of the Last Home became a popular destination for travellers of all kinds, and all were made welcome. Otik created famed dishes such as Otik's Spiced Potatoes, which were known as something of a delicacy by many folks far and wide. An Adopted Daughter In his early years as innkeep, he caught a young thief who was stealing from his customers. Otik discerned that the young girl, who was the daughter of a disreputable magician called Alleran Waylan, did not know right from wrong. He took it upon himself to set the girl straight, first hiring her to serve as a barmaid in his inn, and after some time he then adopted the young girl Tika Waylan. Most of the Heroes of the Lance grew up in Solace and they all counted Otik as a close personal friend, although none loved him as dearly as Tika Waylan.

During one autumn in 348 AC, while the Companions were off doing their soul searching, Otik and Tika created one interesting batch of ale. A Kender by the name of Moonwick Lightfinger accidentally put some sort of love potion into Otik's first barrel of spring ale. When Otik served the ale that fall, the customers became very giddy, and started making love to someone in the inn. Usually if a couple becomes a little too frisky in the inn, Otik would bump them to stop. Unfortunately it involved all his patrons, and he was only able to look on with horror. Eventually the barrel ran out, and the patrons left in the morning. Much to Otik's surprise, this night was the night his inn made the most profit.

War of the Lance

During the War of the Lance, Otik stayed steady at his bar and even with the occupation of Solace, he continued to serve even the Draconians. Somehow during this war he injured his leg and for the rest of his days he had to walk with a cane.

Post War of the Lance

A short time after the War of the Lance, Otik decided to sell the Inn of the Last Home to his adopted daughter Tika and her husband Caramon Majere. The kindly old innkeeper became a welcome customer of the inn and regaled the other patrons with stories about his friends, the Heroes of the Lance. In a few years after passing the inn onto Tika and Caramon, old Otik passed away peacefully and was buried a small plot within sight of the Inn of the Last Home.
