The Plains of Dust are located east of Thorbardin, south of Sable's Swamp, and southwest of Silvanesti. The lands are nothing more than desolate deserts, plains, and badlands now, that are very harsh to all who try to cross it. The center of the Plains of Dust has a blood-red clay that forms a sort of sea of rock. Due to Beryllinthranox and Onysablet changing the landscape, the lands east of the Torath River have turned into savannahs, grasslands, trees, and creeks are growing, growth is flourishing. Before that the lands were commonly of tough grasses, indomitable shurbs, & cold-hardy cacti. The Plains of Dust is known to have fierce warriors, having many centaur tribes in the north and plainsmen in the east.

History[]

In pre-Cataclysm times, the Plains were better known as the nation of Kharolis, with Tarsis as its port city capital. However, when the Cataclysm struck Krynn it destroyed the grassy tundra, creating the barren plains.

Silvanesti Elves fled across the plains to Southern Ergoth shortly before the War of the Lance. The war reached the Plains of Dust when the Red Dragonarmy attacked Tarsis. Great portions of the city were burned to the ground and the lands were occupied.

In the Summer of Chaos, Ariakan never mounted a campaign against the people of the Plains of Dust. He thought that Goldmoon and Riverwind commanded the people here, but in reality they had control of the Plainsmen in Abanasinia.

During the Age of Mortals, the land has steadily gone from dry to even more desert-like. The summer months seem to stretch out longer into spring and autumn. Two Dragon Overlords named Stenndunuus and Iyesta made their homes here.

Two main events happened on the plains during the War of Souls. The Tarmak saw their chance to invade Ansalon and have done so at Missing City. The combined people of the lands have been able to contain the Tarmak to the area around the Missing City, but it is unknown how long that will last.

Also, refugees from both Qualinesti and Silvanesti are now coming to reside in the lands of the plainsmen. This is beginning to cause a lot of tension between both parties. The already limited resources of the Plains have been stretched even thinner.

One known tribe was the Kedasa, who were mostly killed off during the War of the Lance.

Kender Tales[]

One error about the land is that it has brown sand or white sand.

It has been mentioned that Goldmoon and Riverwind were born and raised in this land, but they actually came from the Plains of Abanasinia.
