The Plains of Solamnia, also known as Vingaard Province, has the most fertile lands on all of Ansalon and is one of the provinces in Solamnia. The lands are surrounded by the Vingaard Mountains to the west, the Gold River and Silver River tot he north, and to the east and south is the mighty Vingaard River. The Knight's High Road cuts across it from the High Clerist's Tower in the west, to the ruin of Vingaard Keep in the east.
Before the Cataclysm, the Plains were basically the same size, not changing much during the destruction upon Krynn. Prior to it gaining the name Plains of Solamnia, it was called the Vingaard Plains. That name in this day in age is no longer used.
One ancient history claims that these were the plains where the ogres and Silvanesti Elves wage their final battle during the First Dragon War, but it is unknown if that is true. It was also said that during the Kinslayer War that on these plains General Giarna brutally suppressed a rebellion that flared up against the Ergoth Empire. On these plains is also where the final battle between the Knights of Solamnia and the Dark Queen's armies met and Takhisis was defeated.
In the Age of Darkness, during the War of the Lance, Kitiara Uth Matar launched an invasion of the Plains. Finally, being defeated at the High Clerist's Tower and being driven back in full retreat. During the Chaos War, first the Knights of Takhisis took full control of them, then almost lost them to Chaos's creatures before Skie claimed them for his lands. Skie then started changing the lands into his favorite type of land which was desert. Following the War of Souls, the lands returned to the control of Solamnics with the defeat of the Dark Knights, and the plains again started to return to their fertility before the coming of the great blue.
