Astinus of Palanthas, in his Iconochronos, divides history into two parts: PC (Prae Cataclius, or "before the Cataclysm") and AC (Alt Cataclius, or "after the Cataclysm")
PC denotes the dates that have been numbered backwards from the Zero Hour of the Cataclysm. Because of the damage brought about by the Cataclysm, dating in PC is only approximate. Exact dating in the PC period is difficult, whereas AC history is documented with great reliability. The "year" called 0 PC only occurred for three days, and ended with the Cataclysm. All dates appearing after the Zero Hour of the Cataclysm happen in 1 AC.
