At the end of the King's Road along a fork in the Torath River lie the ruins of Purstal. In ancient times, Purstal was once a part of the Kharolis Empire, and one of the major trade cities of Ansalon. Following the signing of the Swordsheath Scroll by the folk of Kharolis, trade boomed between Kharolis and it's new allies. Since at the time Purstal was located at the border between Ergoth, Silvanesti and Kharolis, it was also the central hub of trade between the three nations and it flourished accordingly. In the latter part of the Age of Might, relations deteriorated rapidly between the nation of Kharolis and the Empire of Istar.

Istarian legions launched their first attacks on Purstal, which underwent a siege from 89 PC - 82 PC. Finally in 82 PC, the legions of Istar broke down the gates of Purstal and the soldiers set upon both defenders and citizens, cutting them down where they stood. The mayor of Purstal called upon the blackest of magics to raise his slain brothers, before he was killed by the legions of Istar. The dead of Purstal then rose and fell upon the soldiers, and a rapidly diminished Istarian army emerged victorious from the fight. The army razed the city, leaving it in ruins and carried away the wealth and treasures of Purstal back to Istar.

The ruins of Purstal now lie in the Plains of Dust and are known to be inhabited by Gully Dwarves. It is also known that Undead walk amongst the ruins, as well as spectral lights flit amongst the streets that draw in adventurers and wanderers from afar. These odd lights seem to serve as lures to travelers, and vanish as soon as anyone approaches them.
