Dragonlance Wiki

Skydancer (? AC - ? AC) was a Human male Chieftain of the Qué-Nal. He had dark black hair. He was broad chested and skin was dusky. He had sharp facial features and a strong chin. Skydancer was in a political marriage to Seasinger and together they have at least two children Sunbringer and Rainsong. He had at least one brother named Windfisher. While he is chief of all the Qué-Nal, he lives in the village of Qué-Jotun.

Early Life[]

When Skydancer first met the Silvanesti Elf Iryl Songbrook when he was a teenager he fell in love with her immediately. Unfortunately, for the good of his tribe he would have to enter a political marriage with Seasinger the daughter of the tribe's chief shaman, Shadowwalker.

Citadel of Light[]

In 391 AC, the Qué-Shu Goldmoon came to Schallsea to build her Citadel of Light. Immediately the tribe's shamans led by Shadowwalker began to work against Goldmoon because she was a Qué-Shu and because they believed Mysticism was against the true Gods. After negotiating with Iryl Songbrook, Skydancer ordered that the mystics be left alone, but Qué-Nal loyal to Shadowwalker began to attack pilgrims on their way to the Citadel's construction site.

In 392 AC, Shadowwalker allied himself with the dark Mystic Gair Graymist. With the Qué-Nal loyal to him, they attacked the construction site of the Citadel. Shadowwalker was defeated by Goldmoon's followers, Solamnic Knights, and Qué-Nal loyal to Chief Skydancer.

Skydancer later negotiated with the Citadel's representative Iryl and ceded the lands the Qué-Nal believed to be haunted of the Port of Schallsea and the Bay of Schallsea to the Citadel of Light.

The Next Generation[]

Skydancer's son, Sunbringer, desired to go study at the Citadel of Light, and they both hoped that this would bridge the gap between their people and the Citadel. They had to first convince the Qué-Nal Council of Elders to allow him to apply to become a Citadel Aspirant. To appease them Sunbringer swore that if anything happened to Skydancer, he would abandon his studies at the Citadel and become the next Chieftain. After this, Skydancer wanted Sunbringer to prove that he could represent the Qué-Nal with honor. So in 416 AC he sent him to Abanasinia to meet with Moonsong, leader of the Qué-Shu, and return with a ritual token of friendship.

In the same year, Shadowwalker and his followers allied themselves with some Dark Knights. The knights, along with Shadowwalker and his followers, helped kidnap Princess Mercidith Redic and Skywalker's daughter, Rainsong. This action forced Skydancer to declare his allegiance to the Citadel. A group of adventurers later recovered Mercy and Rainsong. Following this, Chief Skydancer and the Council of Elders exiled Shadowwalker and those that follow him from the tribe and from Schallsea.

Kender Tales[]

One source detailed that Skydancer was in his late thirties in the year 416 AC, but he was portrayed as an adult in 391 AC not someone in their early teens. So he is likely slightly older in 416 AC.

It was said that Skydancer had been chief since 401 AC, but since he was chief in 391 AC, this is also incorrect. This contradiction can be found in the same source.
