Sorcerers are practitioners of Wild Sorcery (sometimes referred to as "sorcery" or "primal sorcery"). Sorcerers arose after the Chaos War during the Age of Mortals when the gods had left the world. It is theorized that the power of Chaos is what boosted sorcery to levels that mortals could use, which is why Sorcerers had not been seen since the Age of Dreams when the Graygem plagued the world.
Sorcerers act outside of the Wizards of High Sorcery, as their arcane power derives from Wild Sorcery and not the moons. Sorcerers do not study spellbooks. Rather, their power is more intuitive in nature. They are able to shape the power of Wild Sorcery into magical effects that are often elemental in nature, though other effects are entirely possible.
Sorcerers are typically fairly independent, rarely joining organizations. Some sorcerers have joined the Legion of Steel and the Knights of the Thorn. For a while, the key center for sorcerous learning was the Academy of Sorcery. Since its destruction, no other academy has opened to take its place.
