Sugai Tegin (364 AC – 424 AC) was a male Uigan Human who was the Tegin of the Raven Eye Clan. He had a braid and beard that were both the color of snow, bore many tattoos, and was respected as the wisest Tegin amongst the Uigan leaders. In his youth, Sugai was a skilled warrior, but age had slowed him down and stiffened his joints so that he was no longer the fighter he once was. Under Krogan Boyla, Sugai served as chief advisor, having been recognised for his wisdom at an early age.
In 424 AC, when the four royal lords of the Tegin came together at the Vale of Princes to select a new Boyla, Sugai declined to make a claim, stating he was too old to lead all the Uigan people. The wise Tegin attempted to keep the peace between Torug Tegin and Chovuk Tegin, however once Chovuk called Torug a coward, he backed off, realising that he could do nothing to prevent the fighting. Shortly after Chovuk became the new Boyla of the Uigan, Sugai became his chief advisor. When Chovuk announced his plans to ally the Uigan with the Wretched Ones, it was Sugai who verbally conquered the Tegins, when they initially rejected Chovuk's plans for alliance.
He rode with the Uigan to the Ilquar Mountains, and again convinced the other Tegins to follow Chovuk's plans to use the Wretched Ones in battle, prior to the fighting in the Kazar town of Khal. Sugai began to have concerns about Chovuk's leadership before the siege of Malton, uncertain how they could overcome the defenses of the settlements of the Imperial League.
By the summer of 424 AC, Chovuk had left with his Tenach to enter the Dreaming Green, leaving Sugai and the other Uigan to continue the fight against the Minotaurs of the Imperial League. Hoch Tegin grew tired of Chovuk's leadership and claimed that he was the new Boyla in Chovuk's absence, with Sugai supporting him. With Chovuk's return, the rebellious Hoch told Chovuk that he was leader no more and to grovel before him. However Chovuk responded by having his new elven ally Eldako shoot and kill Hoch with a single arrow. Sugai was punished in the same manner mere moments after Hoch's demise.
