Tavin Longspear (? AC - ? AC) was a male human who was a Dragon Knight, and the nephew of Emla, village headwoman of Haslit. The warrior was bonded to the copper dragon, Gabus.
Biography[]
In 348 AC, Tavin encountered a band of adventurers at Spindle Gap, after having seen the Gabus’ mate Narn had been killed. Initially his suspicion was allayed, when the villager Mies explained that a group of hunters killed Narn, and the knight was able calm Gabus. At this time, the young Derry Althen introduced herself to Tavin, showing keen interest in the ways of the Dragon Knight. Tavin and Gabus swore vengeance on the hunters and pursued their trail from the air, ultimately reaching the Pillars of the Moons, where the hunters launched an ambush. Tavin aided the adventurers in defeating the hunters, and then learned of the plot to kill Amanthus. Gabus and Tavin contacted some other dragons in Carrendown and then flew the adventurers to the Cloud Mesa, so that Amanthus could be warned of the threat. Tavin then took Derry under his wing, commencing her training in the ways of the Dragon Knight.
A few weeks later, Tavin met the adventurers in the village of Trilon, where he asked them to seek out the criminal Gezele Ella, who would lead them to the master of all the dragon hunters. A short time later, an impatient Tavin and Gabus led an assault on Kor Island along with several other copper dragons; after they learnt that the master of the dragon hunters was laired there. However the residents of the island felled all the dragons including Gabus, and the sole survivor, Tavin, was taken prisoner. The adventurers found and freed Tavin on Kor Island, where the Dragon Knight told them what he had learnt during his captivity about Erestem’s plot to destroy the good Othlorx. When fellow Dragon Knights arrived to aid the adventurers in escaping, Derry Althen accidentally destroyed a portal and trapped the adventurers in the Ethereal Plane.
The freed Tavin returned to his fellow knights, hoping to see the adventurers freed, but unable to do anything to help them. He took the dragon Torris as his new comrade in the ranks of the Dragon Knights and continued to further the cause of good throughout Taladas.
Personality and traits[]
Tavin was tall and slender of build, had tanned skin and sandy-brown hair. Tavin was generally suspicious of strangers, but friendly to his comrades and any who prove themselves a friend to dragons and the Dragon Knights.
