The Thon-Tsalarian River is a broad and slow river on the western side of Ansalon. The river was named by the Kagonesti Elves and means the "River of the Dead" in the Elvish Language. Where the river meets the Thon-Sorpon River there is the island called Dir-Plaanar. Just upstream from the Dir-Plaanar is another island named Dir-Tsalarian. The wild elves would put their dead in boats and float them down the river to the ocean. If Branchala deemed the individual worthy then they would continue to the ocean. If the god did not believe the person worthy then the boat would get stuck on Dir-Tsalarian and be claimed by the Undead there.

Pre Cataclysm[]

The Thon-Tsalarian started in the foothills where the Last Gaard Mountains and the Aegis Mountains meet. The river flowed roughly west until it met the Thon-Sorpon River and later joined the Greenthorn River that then flowed into the Gulf of Ergoth.

Post Cataclysm[]

During the Cataclysm the world changed greatly, including the forming of Southern Ergoth. The Thon-Tsalarian still flowed west but now when it met the Thon-Sorpon it flowed into the new Harkun Bay.

War of the Lance[]

When Silvamori and Qualimori were founded some of the elves called the river Thon-Tsalaroth ("River of Death") due to it being the border between their hostile colonies.

Kender Tales[]

It was said that the Silvanesti Elves named the river Thon-Sargon due to the fact that the water shines silver when Solinari rises, but that was the Thon-Sorpon.
