Dragonlance Wiki

Ulanda the Sorceress (? – 1232 PC ) was a Human woman of haunting beauty. Her hair was long and black and her eyes drank in the souls of men like dwarves drank spirits. She tended to wear the finest materials in clothing, favoring blue as a color. Her robes often sported Cabalistic embroidery such as pentagrams, crescent moons, and the like.

She hailed from the Blue Mist Forest where her fabled castle was said to be located. It was whispered in tales that she would lure young men to her castle and kept them until she tired of them, then changed them into wolves, forced to guard her dwelling place. It was also said at night you could hear their howls of anguish.

The Dragon[]

Ulanda was one of four dragonslayers summoned to the Bitter Ale Inn in Fredericksborough by Gondar, Seneschal of King Frederick, to slay a Red Dragon. The red dragon had taken the ransom that was to be used to secure King Frederick's freedom from his dark brother, the Duke of Norhampton. Ulanda agreed, feeling that the red dragon in question was also the same dragon that had stolen her covens magical treasures.

Ulanda met her fate beneath The Black Mountain, home to the dragon. After locating the dragons' lair, Gondar revealed his true form that of the Red Dragon. Ulanda did not even manage to utter a spell before Gondar activated one of his most prized artifacts- a magical necklace of wolves’ teeth- that encircled her neck and ripped her throat out. Afterwards, Gondar reanimated her body to act as an undead guard for his lair.
