Ulvian (? PC - ? PC) was a Half-Elf and the son of Kith-Kanan and Suzine des Quivalin. He was born during the Kinslayer War and by 2140 PC was already showing a great degree of arrogance and a complete lack of ambition. Unlike his sister, Ulvian seemed to not recover from the death of his mother, and was considered a cowardly boy by 2072 PC. The blond-haired lad was a cause of shame for his father during the ceremony of peace with Glenforth Sparkstriker.
Slaver and Slave[]
Kith-Kanan sent Ulvian to learn his warrior skills under his lieutenant Parnigar. However the lieutenant was forced to send Ulvian back, after the half-elf showed no desire or inclination to learn any skills. In 1892 PC, Ulvian had developed a profitable business as a slave trafficker, selling both elves and humans. He was caught out by his sister Verhanna and the Guards of the Sun, and taken to Qualinost as a criminal. He was sentenced to stay in the Arcuballis Tower by his father until a suitable punishment could be granted, and guarded by the warrior Merithynos. Shortly after, Ulvian was sentenced to work as a slave for Feldrin Feldspar as a laborer at Pax Tharkas, to which Merithynos escorted him. On his first night, he was almost beaten to death in a fight with the Kagonesti Elf Splint. After a short time at Pax Tharkas, a landslide occurred in which Ulvian was caught and his leg was pinned under a rock. When Merithynos went to aid the prince, the elven slave Drulethen asked him to get an Onyx Ring from Feldrin's tent. Merithynos complied and witnessed Drulethen use magic to save Ulvian. A short while later, Dru and Ulvian became allies and agreed to help eachother to further their own goals. Dru gave Ulvian a list of items he needed to engineer their escape, however when the sorcerer left, Split appeared with his friends Brunnar and Thrit. The trio beat Ulvian severely for failing to bring them water when they beckoned. Ulvian then told Dru he would recover all the items he needed quickly, but that the sorcerer must promise to punish Splint for beating Ulvian twice.
Drulethen[]
On receiving the items he requested from Ulvian, Dru created a Golem with his magic which he used to kill Splint and then create a diversion to allow himself and Ulvian to escape Pax Tharkas. Having escaped Pax Tharkas with Dru, Ulvian did not trust the sorcerer enough to give him both parts of his magical amulet. Instead Ulvian only gave him one half and the pair returned to Dru's lair at Black Stone Peak. At the lair, Ulvian refused to return the other part of the amulet, believing Dru would kill him. The sorcerer was angered and retreated into his lair, biding his time to regain his possession. A short time later, Kith-Kanan, Kemian Ambrodel and a cadre of elven warriors appeared. Whilst the others were prevented from entering Dru's lair by magic, Kith made it to his son. The sorcerer eventually got the other part of his amulet and turned himself into a Wyvern. Ulvian managed to escape Dru's lair and witnessed the sorcerer's death at the hands of Greenhands. He later secretly took Drulethen's Amulet, as the magical device called out to him as everyone else slept.
Return to Qualinost[]
Ulvian feared he would be forced to return to slaving away in Pax Tharkas, however his father decided to allow him to return home to Qualinost. The half-elven prince returned to Qualinost on the back of one of the Sons of the Wind, along with his father and their companions. He seethed with jealousy when he learnt that Greenhands was actually the first son of Kith-Kanan and that he would be the heir to the throne instead of Ulvian himself. The prince plotted with the sentient Onyx Amulet, of a means to throw Greenhands (now known as Silveran Kanan) into disrepute so that Ulvian would be asked to be the heir to the throne instead. He immediately sent visions of Drulethen to Silveran, haunting the young elf and making others believe him insane. When Silveran in a deluded state struck Kith-Kanan down, Ulvian was one of the first to discover the pair. His sister Verhanna confronted him and she soon discovered that he had been manipulating Silveran through the Amulet of Hiddukel, and took the foul device from him. When it became public knowledge about Ulvian, the half-elf fled Qualinost fearing for his life. Many rumors surfaced about his whereabouts, from staying with the Emperor of Ergoth, to hiding out in Balifor, but he was not heard of again.
