Vaananen (? PC - Summer, 3 PC) was a male Ergothian human that was a druid living in the city of Istar. He had a red oak leaf tatoo on his left wrist, was tall and thin with long black and silver hair down to his neck. Had large moss green eyes and always had a smile on his face.

Vaananen came to Istar in 11 PC with his mission to secretly smuggle out old books that have been banned. Vaananen was sad to see what had happened to Vincus after the betrayal of his father attempting to steal the opals. To make things easier on Vincus, he agreed to spar with the Kingpriest in order to work of some of Vincus' debt and give him an easier life as a slave. He also joined the clergy in 9 PC.
While the rebellion led by Fordus Firesoul was taking place in 3 PC, he was able to get Vincus out of the city and with the rebels. Takhisis ended up sending a cactus to Vaananen which contained hundreds of scorpions. They came out of it, and stung Vaananen to death.
