Vincus Uth Vaananen (22 PC - ? AC) was a male Ergothian human that had dark skin, green-gold eyes, a short, well-kept beard, short hair while he was in servitude with a topknot, and a wide mouth. He was born the son of Hannakus and mother unknown.

Servitude[]

His father was caught trying to steal hundreds of black opals from the Kingpriest of Istar in 10 PC, when Vincus was only twelve. Hannakus was tried, found guilty, and executed and then the sins of the father carried to the sun and Vincus was sold into servitude. Vincus' master was Balandar, an elder Cleric of Paladine in the city of Istar. For years Vaananen had been trying to help pay off the debt of Vincus and his father, but the games the Kingpriest played would never allow it. Eventually, in 3 PC, Vaananen uses his druidic powers and released the collar off Vincus. He then sent him to Fordus with the broken slave collar to have him taken in, and Vincus was mute and only knew sign language and needed the collar to prove he was freed.

As he was making his way there he was stopped by three old thieving friends, Pugio, Ultion, and Anguis. They attempted to recapture Vincus and turn him in, but they were prevented and Vincus was able to escape to Fordus' camp. At the camp, he went with the survivors to Abanasinia, before being allowed to live in Silvanesti. There he lived a long and very happy life, and finished Vaananen's book with a prophecy telling of the coming of Goldmoon. In honor of Vaananen, Vincus took his name for his last name.
