Wanderer (? AC - ? AC) was a Human male Qué-Shu. He believed in the old Gods that few in Ansalon maintained their beliefs in after the Cataclysm. He taught the beliefs to his family. At one time he was a Namer for the Qué-Shu and he was a great hunter and tracker.
Wanderer's grandson was Riverwind. He was the great great grandchild of Michael Whitsund and Nikol Whitsund.
The Telling[]
In 231 AC when Wanderer was a young man, he was a Namer of the Qué-Shu and represented them at the great plainsmen conclave called the The Telling.
Great White Elk[]
During a lean spring, Wanderer was hunting food for his tribe. He came across a great bull elk that was in truth a representation of the god Chislev. Wanderer was humble and only desired to feed his people so the gods let the arrow pierce the heart of the elk. The meat feed the Qué-Shu for four days. Wanderer gave the rack of horns to Oakheart who had been blinded by the same elk many years before.
Death[]
During a summer of drought, the Qué-Shu and the Qué-Kiri were fighting. In the fighting Wanderer was wounded. Loreman, a Qué-Shu shaman, was there taking the place of Goldmoon because she was too young. Loreman offered to Wanderer, as he was dying, to put his name in the Book of the Gods after he died so Wanderer could become a god. Wanderer refused since this went against his beliefs in the old gods. Loreman was angry and didn't want Wanderer's beliefs to spread to the rest of the tribe so he confiscated Wanderer's son's trade and cast out his family from the tribe.
After Death[]
Wanderer's spirit appeared to Riverwind to tell him of the ceremonial games held to choose the escorts that would go with Goldmoon to the Hall of the Sleeping Spirits. He also told his grandson that Goldmoon would give her heart to one of the escorts.
Once more, Wanderer's spirit briefly appeared to Riverwind before his Courting Quest. He reassured him that the old gods were real.
Kender Tales[]
Some sources name Wanderer as Riverwind's father, but he was his grandfather.
